Indian non-life GWPs jump 5.2% in FY2021

General insurers' premiums grew to $22.6b.

Indian non-life insurers saw their gross written premiums increase 5.2% to $26.5b (INR1.99t) for FY2021, according to data from the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDAI).

General insurers recorded a 3.35% jump in gross premiums to $22.6b (INR1.7t) from $21.9b (INR1.6t) in FY2020.

Standalone health insurers posted a 11.08% growth in GWP to $2.09b (INR157b) whilst specialised public sector insurers registered a 26.23% growth to $1.75b (INR131.7b).
