FWD Philippines launches insurance plan for gamers

Customers can opt to add critical illness benefit, accidental death coverage, or both.

FWD Philippines is launching an insurance plan exclusively aimed for gamers.

FWD The One for gamers is a fully-customizable insurance plan aimed exclusively at online and mobile gamers. For just a starting premium of PHP330 (US$5.8) for a year of coverage, gamers can choose to add critical illness benefit, accidental death coverage, or even both.

Gamers can also enjoy the unique benefit of no premium increase after every five years if you continually renew your plan on time.

Interested gamers can avail of the police at the FWD Online Shop with no medical exams required.

The plan is available only during the 12th and current season of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League - Philippines (MPL-PH), with FWD Philippines as the official insurer of the event.

In line with this, gamers who avail of the policy will also get exclusive Mobile Legends: Bang Bang in-game rewards, which they will receive within 20 days after purchase of The One.

An estimated 43 million Filipinos are active in online gaming, according to a study by YCP Solidiance. This number is expected to steadily grow by 13% per year.

Mobile Legends alone logged 5.4 million daily users in August 2023.

“As the insurer of the next generation, we’re committed to supporting the passions of young Filipinos, including the esports and gaming community,” says Roche Vandenberghe, FWD Philippines Chief Marketing and Digital Business Officer.

“Gamers recognize the importance of having great support, and this is the role we’re taking in real life — we act as the expert wingman who has your back, enabling you to focus on transforming any challenge into a triumph,” Vandenberghe added.
