WTW Japan’s pension fund index up 5.6% in 1Q24

The firm’s benchmark discount rate increased to 2.39%.

WTW Japan reported a 5.8% increase in the overall benchmark portfolio in 1Q24, driven by gains in domestic equities and international bonds, despite losses in domestic bonds.

In 1Q24, its benchmark discount rate went up by 3 basis points to 2.39%, while its liability increased to 0.1% from -4.3% a year ago.

The combined effect of the asset and liability movements increased the pension fund index by 5.6% over the quarter.
