Tysers appoints new leaders to enhance APAC operations

Both are based in Singapore.

Tysers, an insurance and reinsurance broker, has announced leadership appointments to boost its presence in Asia Pacific.

Babita Rai has been appointed as chief executive officer (CEO) of Tysers Singapore, whilst William Furness-Smith will serve as head of Marine, APAC, based in Singapore.

Rai, who joined Tysers in 2023 as managing director to oversee reinsurance operations in Singapore, brings over 20 years of industry expertise across the APAC region.

She previously held leadership roles at JB Boda, UIB Asia Reinsurance Brokers, and Guy Carpenter. 

Furness-Smith, who joined Tysers in 2015, has moved to Singapore to lead the Marine segment for APAC.

With over 15 years of experience in marine broking and expertise in handling complex hull and cargo risks, Furness-Smith will collaborate with Tysers’ teams in Singapore, Dubai, and Hong Kong to develop customised solutions for emerging marine risks.
