Prudential launches AI lab in Singapore

Employees have submitted over 100 AI use cases since its soft launch in August.

Prudential has launched the Prudential AI Lab in Singapore to accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI), generative AI, and machine learning across its operations.

The lab aims to develop AI-driven solutions that enhance customer experience and integrate AI capabilities into Prudential’s products and services. Since its soft launch in August, employees across Prudential's 24 markets in Asia and Africa have submitted over 100 AI use cases.

Focusing on improving consumer access to healthcare, the lab will also enhance the speed and effectiveness of financial representatives’ customer service through advanced advisory capabilities.

It will collaborate with a wide range of ecosystem partners, including academic institutions, research centres, government agencies, and technology firms.

Prudential has already secured partnerships with institutions such as the National University of Singapore’s Asian Institute of Digital Finance, Singapore Management University’s School of Computing and Information Systems, Republic Polytechnic, and Singapore Polytechnic. These collaborations will provide hands-on experiences and facilitate knowledge transfer.

Interns and those with selected final-year projects will have the opportunity to collaborate with the lab, its partners, and Prudential’s business units to create proofs-of-concept for selected AI use cases.

The lab's establishment was supported by Singapore's Ministry of Digital Development and Information, the Economic Development Board, and the Monetary Authority of Singapore. It operates in partnership with Google Cloud, offering Prudential staff access to comprehensive technical support and AI solutions.

Singapore was selected as the lab’s base due to its strong infrastructure and AI-friendly environment underpinned by the National AI Strategy, noted Prudential CEO Anil Wadhwani.
