Sri Lanka’s insurance regulator names new board chairman

Dr. Ajith Raveendra De Mel is a senior lecturer at the University of Rahuna.

The Insurance Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (IRCSL) has welcomed Dr. Ajith Raveendra De Mel as chairman of the board of directors on 2 January 2025.

De Mel has served as senior lecturer in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Ruhuna since 2015. He is also a visiting lecturer at the University of Moratuwa since 2018.

He succeeds Razik Zarook as chairman and member of IRCSL’s board of directors.

De Mel graduated from Missouri University of Science and Technology in the United States with a PhD in mathematics with a focus on statistics.
