Great Eastern, AmMetLife cancel acquisition plan

The plan was initially signed in 2023.

Great Eastern Holdings Limited (GEH) and the involved parties terminated the planned acquisition of AmMetLife Insurance Berhad and AmMetLife Takaful Berhad.  

The agreement, signed on 2 October 2023, involved GEH subsidiaries Great Eastern Life Assurance (Malaysia) Berhad (GELM) and Great Eastern Takaful Berhad (GETB) acquiring 100% of AmMetLife Insurance Berhad and AmMetLife Takaful Berhad from AMAB Holdings Sdn Bhd and MetLife International Holdings, LLC.  

The insurer said that all parties have mutually agreed not to proceed with the transaction.
