Sompo Hong Kong CEO Li Sheung Kin to retire in 2025

Alasdair Walker will succeed Li as CEO.

Sompo has announced a leadership transition for its Commercial P&C Insurance operations in Hong Kong, with Li Sheung Kin (S.K.) set to retire as CEO of Sompo Insurance (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd. after 24 years with the company.

Li, who was appointed CEO in 2016, will stay on until the end of 2025 to support a smooth transition.

He is credited with helping to strengthen Sompo’s presence in Hong Kong during his tenure.

Alasdair Walker will succeed Li as CEO, pending regulatory and immigration approvals.

Walker joined Sompo in 2023 from another major international insurer, where he held roles across London, Johannesburg, and Singapore, most recently as Regional Head of Distribution.

In his new role, Walker will report to Kenneth Reilly, CEO of Insurance, Asia Pacific and Deputy CEO of Commercial Insurance at Sompo Japan.

He will be responsible for driving Sompo Hong Kong’s growth and positioning the office as a key commercial hub in the Asia Pacific region.
