MSIG Malaysia names Ang Yien Chia as new CEO

Chua Seck Guan retires after a 42-year career in the industry.

MSIG Insurance (Malaysia) Bhd has appointed Ang Yien Chia as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective 3 July, following the retirement of long-serving CEO Chua Seck Guan.

Ang, who has served the company for 29 years, was most recently part of the senior management team.

She has led various business units across multiple distribution channels and played a key role in shaping MSIG Malaysia’s growth strategy.

She will now focus on driving innovation, customer satisfaction, and sustaining market leadership.

Chua stepped down on 2 July after a 42-year career in the insurance industry, including 15 years leading MSIG Malaysia.

Chua joined the company, then known as NZI Insurance, as a Loss Control Surveyor and held various leadership positions across East Malaysia, Brunei, and Peninsular Malaysia.

He oversaw the insurer through two mergers and four acquisitions and played an active role in industry bodies such as PIAM, the Joint Committee on Climate Change (JC3), and the ASEAN Insurance Council.

Under his leadership, MSIG Malaysia delivered 15 consecutive years of underwriting profitability, introduced risk-based pricing, built its data analytics capability, and launched several innovative products, including motor and fire insurance add-ons.

Chua will stay on in a senior advisory role to support a smooth leadership transition.
