Ping An names Ray Wang CTO to boost AI and digital strategy

His appointment is expected to advance the company’s self-developed large language models.

Ping An Insurance has named Ray Wang as the company’s Chief Technology Officer and general manager of Ping An Technology, in a move aimed at strengthening its artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities and accelerating digital transformation.

Wang’s appointment is expected to advance the integration of Ping An’s self-developed large language models and open-source big data platforms.

The company said this will support the development of five digital system: covering business, operations, management, marketing, and services. This is aligned with its “integrated finance + health and senior care” strategy, the Chinese insurer said.

Wang holds a master’s degree in computer science from the National University of Singapore and has nearly 20 years of experience in finance and technology.

He previously held senior technical roles at Google and Bloomberg, served as Chief Architect at Baidu, and was Vice President and CTO at Ant Group’s Ant Fortune and Ant Insurance.

At Ant, he led digital finance and AI initiatives across business units, including wealth management, consumer finance, and Zhima Credit, and launched generative AI products such as AI-powered financial assistants.
