Indian life insurer collaborates with ministry on Bima Sakhi for women agents
Bima Sakhi agents receive the same benefits and privileges as regular LIC agents.
The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department of Rural Development, Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, to promote the Bima Sakhi Yojana across rural areas.
Bima Sakhi Yojana is an LIC initiative aimed at empowering women by offering them a performance-based agency career in insurance distribution.
The agreement was formalised during the National Conclave on Financial Inclusion – “Anubhuti” – held from 8 to 10 July, in Goa.
The scheme provides monthly stipends of ₹7,000 in the first year, ₹6,000 in the second year, and ₹5,000 in the third year, subject to terms and conditions.
