Vietnam Social Security reports 19.3m workers with insurance
This is also equal to 40.8% of the country’s workforce.
An estimated 19.3 million Vietnamese workers were enrolled in compulsory social insurance as of end-August 2025, according to the Vietnam Social Security (VSS).
This is also equal to 40.8% of the country’s workforce. Health insurance coverage reached 91.9 million people, or 90.7% of the population.
Growth in social and health insurance participation was reported in several provinces and cities, including Nghe An, Bac Ninh, Ha Noi, Hai Phong, Ninh Binh, and Ho Chi Minh City.
VSS said it has collected more than $14.7b (VND389t) so far this year, equal to 66.6% of the government’s target and up 17.1% from the same period in 2024.
Despite the gains, arrears in contributions remain high. Local authorities are working to close the gap and meet year-end targets.
