Zurich partners YAS to launch rewards-based insurance for Hong Kong taxis
Eligible drivers will be provided personal accident coverage, amongst others.
Zurich Insurance Hong Kong has partnered with YAS Insurance to launch a rewards-based motor insurance program from electronic vehicles (EVs) and electric hybrid taxi drivers in the city.
Zurich said that it will introduce a three-tier insurance program powered by YAS’s TAXY platform. It will use an AI-assisted pattern learning for its scoring system that tracks individual driving behavior, according to a press release on 29 September 2025.
Eligible drivers will be provided with personal accident coverage, with additional coverage and benefits offered to those who qualify for higher safety tiers. For those in the second tier, it will include coverage for the driver’s properties; and for the third tier, it will give personal accident coverage to the driver’s family members.
This aims to incentivize taxi drivers to adopt safer practices, Zurich Insurance and YAS Insurance stated in the press release.
Driving patterns will be tracked in real-time and integrated with Hong Kong traffic data using government-required in-vehicle cameras as well as the YAS mobile app.
