Ping An strengthens insurance plus rehab model with new facility
The facility is linked to Ping An Health Insurance’s direct payment system.
Ping An has opened its first self-operated hospital in Shenzhen as part of its expansion in health and senior care services in the Greater Bay Area.
The Shenzhen Beiyi Rehabilitation Hospital, operated by PKU Healthcare Group, will offer rehabilitation services from acute care to long-term and home-based support.
It is expected to serve up to 100,000 patients a year.
Ping An Co-CEO Michael Guo said the hospital strengthens the group’s “insurance + rehabilitation + senior care” model. It will work with PKUCare Rehabilitation Hospital to provide connected care across the region.
The hospital uses an “AI + precision rehabilitation” model with equipment such as exoskeleton robots and 3D gait analysis systems.
Its six key specialties include neurology, orthopedics and joints, pediatrics, geriatrics, spinal cord injury, and pain management.
The facility is linked to Ping An Health Insurance’s direct payment system and plans to connect with national medical insurance and international commercial insurance platforms to simplify claims for patients across mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, and overseas.
Ping An said the new hospital will also support its home-based senior care services.
By September 2025, the group had partnerships with more than 37,000 hospitals and served about 250 million individual customers, with 63% using its health and senior care services.
