APRIL International, Sompo partner to expand international private medical insurance
Both companies will jointly develop new health insurance products.
APRIL International has entered a regional partnership with Sompo to expand its international private medical insurance (IPMI) products across the Asia-Pacific region.
The agreement combines APRIL’s IPMI capabilities and distribution network with Sompo’s underwriting and regional market expertise.
Both companies will jointly develop new health insurance products that integrate underwriting, claims management and assistance services.
The first products under the partnership are scheduled to launch in Singapore in December 2025, with plans to roll them out to more Asia-Pacific markets later.
APRIL said the partnership supports its wider growth strategy across Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America. Sompo said the collaboration will help broaden its product range and customer reach in the region.
Romain Di Meglio, CEO of APRIL International in Asia and the Middle East, said the deal will support the company’s expansion in Asia, where it has been active for a decade.
Bill Zhang, Sompo’s president for APAC consumer lines, said the partnership aligns with the insurer’s strategy to strengthen its health and protection offerings in the region.
