The job cuts will mainly affect call centres, a source said.
Insurance group Allianz may have plans to cut up to 1,800 jobs in its travel insurance division, reports Reuters.
Between 1,500-1,800 jobs may be cut at Allianz Partners over the next 12-18 months, the source said. It will mainly affect call centres, with artificial intelligence (AI) replacing manual processes.
German publication Versicherungsmonitor first reported on the plans. The insurance group declined to comment specifically on the planned job reductions, Reuters said.
A company spokesperson said that confidential talks with the works councils were currently taking place.
