Markel International names Phil Amlot to lead trade credit

He reports to Carl Titterton and takes the post effective immediately.

Markel Insurance has appointed Phil Amlot as head of Trade Credit for Markel International, effective immediately. 

In his new role, Amlot will report to Carl Titterton, Divisional managing director – Trade Credit, Political Risk and Surety, and will oversee strategy, growth, and team development for the division. 

He will also support global broker partners, maintain local offerings, and drive solution-focused underwriting across Markel’s offices in London, the US, and Asia.

Amlot joined Markel in 2010 as a senior underwriter in Trade Credit and later established the US Trade Credit operation as Underwriting Manager in 2014. 

He was promoted to Head of Underwriting – Trade Credit in 2020. Before Markel, he held underwriting and senior risk management roles at Coface UK and Independent Insurance Company Limited.
