Activ Yuva ties insurance to young Indians’ lifestyle
Coverage and rewards now shift with daily activity sleep and nutrition tracking.
Aditya Birla Health Insurance Co. Ltd. (ABHICL) has launched Activ Yuva, a health insurance plan for young Indians that links cover and rewards to lifestyle behaviour through its HealthReturns programme.
The insurer said in a press release that the plan combines hospitalisation protection with outpatient department (OPD) cover, income protection, maternity benefits, and flexibility features, alongside a rewards structure tied to daily activity, nutrition, and sleep tracking.
It uses an Eat, Move, and Heal framework to link HealthReturns to user behaviour, where customers can earn benefits by logging meals, meeting step or calorie targets, and maintaining sleep duration targets over defined periods.
The company said Activ Yuva extends its HealthReturns model, under which customers can earn up to 100% of their annual premium back based on activity levels and a Healthy Heart Score.
The plan offers unlimited sum insured, providing hospitalisation and treatment cover without exhausting coverage within a policy year.
It also introduces Yuva Credit, under which the sum insured can grow up to 11 times over 11 years, increasing coverage across the policy tenure in line with life stages.
The plan includes OPD cover of up to five times, covering consultations, diagnostics, medicines, and wellness-related expenses, whilst providing income protection through a fixed payout during extended hospitalisation.
A worldwide maternity cover feature allows users to begin the waiting period early and carry forward benefits over time.
An ON/OFF feature allows policyholders to pause cover during extended overseas travel, whilst maintaining continuity.
Mayank Bathwal, CEO of ABHICL, said insurance needs to align with customer lifestyles and remain active between claims, not only respond to medical events.
