Forvis Mazars names actuarial partner to boost APAC insurance practice

The Singapore hire expands insurance advisory amidst IFRS 17 and M&A-driven demand.

Forvis Mazars has appointed Anthony Atkins as partner in Singapore to strengthen its actuarial and insurance consulting capabilities across Asia Pacific, according to a company statement.

Atkins joins the firm’s financial services consulting team in Singapore and will focus on actuarial advisory work for insurers in the region, bringing more than 20 years of experience in insurance and actuarial services.

The appointment is part of Forvis Mazars’ effort to expand its insurance practice in Singapore, which sits within its broader financial services platform across Asia Pacific.

The firm said its regional financial services consulting team is led by APAC financial services leader Rudi Lang, whilst its Singapore practice includes audit and assurance partner Tan Yan Song.

Forvis Mazars managing partner for Singapore, Rick Chan, said Atkins’ appointment supports the firm’s investment in insurance and actuarial capabilities amid growing demand for actuarial services in the region.

The firm cited ongoing implementation of IFRS 17 accounting standards, merger and acquisition activity, and regulatory developments as factors shaping demand for actuarial expertise across Asia Pacific.

Atkins previously held senior actuarial roles in Big Four firms and regional insurance consulting, and has advised on more than 20 transaction-related actuarial workstreams, according to the statement.

He said he will focus on supporting insurers in areas including actuarial advisory, risk frameworks and regional expansion challenges.
