AIA debuts SelectWise as 46% of Hong Kongers want privacy and cheaper care
57% of Hongkongers have considered mainland China for medical treatment.
AIA has launched a new voluntary health insurance plan in Hong Kong called the AIA Voluntary Health Insurance SelectWise Scheme, aimed at customers looking for affordable prices and privacy.
SelectWise is the first voluntary health insurance plan in the market to offer a guided medical journey, covering the full process from finding a doctor to recovery after treatment.
Customers who choose in-patient treatment at SelectWise-designated hospitals in Hong Kong can stay in semi-private rooms, whilst all hospital costs are approved in advance.
Similar room arrangements are available at selected hospitals in Macau. In mainland China, customers can choose treatment at designated hospitals offering either private rooms in selected Greater Bay Area hospitals or semi-private rooms at more than 1,700 hospitals nationwide.
AIA said the plan reflects changing customer needs. A recent survey by AIA Hong Kong found that 46% of respondents value comfort and privacy when staying in hospital, whilst 57% have already sought or considered medical treatment in mainland China.
To support cross-border care, SelectWise includes a concierge service for customers seeking treatment in mainland China.
The SelectWise medical network in Hong Kong includes specialists and healthcare professionals who support customers with doctor selection, appointment booking, hospital admission, payments and follow-up care.
In mainland China, the concierge service is designed to help customers navigate unfamiliar healthcare systems and processes.
