Aon appoints Dan Hartung to lead global event response unit

He will oversee the estimation of industry exposure and financial impact.

Aon plc has appointed Dan Hartung as global head of event response for its Risk Capital division, effective immediately.

Hartung brings close to 15 years of experience in meteorology and catastrophe analytics. In his new role, he will lead Aon’s event response team, focusing on delivering actionable insights to insurer clients before, during, and after natural catastrophes. 

His remit includes expanding real-time data delivery to commercial risk clients to support a more proactive, data-driven approach to risk management.

Hartung will oversee the estimation of industry exposure and financial impact from significant natural disasters, both regional and global. 

His team will integrate Aon’s proprietary tools—including automated response systems, exposure databases, and catastrophe loss data—with third-party collaborations.

He will remain based in Baltimore.
