Aon hands Japan growth push to Tokio Marine veteran

Hirai currently oversees life and non-life operations across Southeast Asia and India.

Aon has appointed Masahito Hirai as CEO of Japan, effective 30 June.

Hirai will lead the company’s Japan business, overseeing strategy execution, growth and client service delivery. He will report to Qin

Lu and join Aon’s North Asia leadership team.

Hirai has more than 30 years of experience in the insurance industry. He spent most of his career at Tokio Marine, holding leadership roles in Japan, South America, North America and Asia. 

He currently serves as CEO for Tokio Marine’s Asia region, overseeing its life and non-life insurance businesses across Southeast Asia and India.

He will succeed Tatsuya Yamamoto, who will remain in an advisory role to support the leadership transition.
