Asian insurtechs raised over $3b in 121 deals since 2015

Total capital raised jumped at a CAGR of 155.6% between 2016 and 2019 to over $970m.

Asian insurtech firms have raised over $3b across 121 transactions since 2015, according to a FinTech Global research.

2015 was a record year for Asian insurtechs, with ZhongAn’s $937m Series A deal responsible for 87.9% of funding that year. Total capital raised jumped at a CAGR of 155.6% between 2016 and 2019 to over $970m. Average deal size peaked six times from $4.2m in 2016 to $25m in 2019.

Whilst relatively small compared to Europe and North America, Asian insurtech deal activity ballooned more than twice during the period and has grown YoY since 2016.
