Australia sets up claim centre for customers affected by severe storms
The hub is located in Townsville and is open until 15 February.
The Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) and fellow insurers opened an Insurance Hub in Townsville last 5 February to assist customers affected by severe storms and flooding that have impacted the region since 29 January.
Located at Townsville Stadium, the Hub will operate daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. until 15 February.
ICA representatives will provide general insurance guidance, whilst insurers, including Suncorp, RACQ, IAG, Hollard, Allianz, and Youi, will assist customers directly with claims.
The event may be escalated to an Insurance Catastrophe if claim numbers or complexity increase.
Insurers have received more than 1,400 claims as of last week, but the total cost of the event remains undetermined.
