Cambodia premiums rise 3% as life claims jump in March
Gross cover reached $8b whilst general lines carried most insured value.
Cambodia’s total gross insurance premiums increased by 3% to $32.02m in March 2026, up from $30.94m in March 2025.
General insurance premiums rose by 6%, from $11.35m to $12.06m. Life insurance premiums increased by 2%, from $19.60m to $19.97m.
The number of policies also grew during the period. Total policies increased by 6% to 111,360, compared with 104,711 a year earlier.
General insurance policies rose by 25%, from 22,170 to 27,747, whilst life insurance policies increased slightly by 1%, from 82,541 to 83,613.
Total sum insured went up by 6%, from $7.36b in March 2025 to $7.77b in March 2026.
General insurance sum insured increased by 9% to $6.08b, whilst life insurance sum insured fell by 4% to $1.69b.
Gross claims incurred declined sharply by 49%, from $14.71m to $7.56m. The fall was mainly due to general insurance claims, which dropped by 58% from $13.11m to $5.55m.
Life insurance claims increased by 26%, from $1.60m to $2.02m.
In general insurance, property remained the largest product line in March 2026, accounting for 32.03% of market share. Health followed with 25.97%, vehicle with 21.17%, personal accident with 8.75%, and others with 6.99%.
In life insurance, endowment remained the main product line, with a 75.26% market share in March 2026.
