Cambodian insurers post 3% premium drop in December
Total policies jumped 47% to 477,228 even as revenue weakened.
Cambodian insurers’ gross premium in December 2025 dipped 3% year-on-year (YoY) to $32.6m, as general insurance recorded a contraction.
Data from the Insurance Regulator of Cambodia showed that gross premiums of general insurers in Cambodia fell by 16% YoY to $11.1m during the month.
However, this was slightly offset by the 6% YoY rise in life insurance gross premiums, reaching $21.5m.
Meanwhile, the number of policies surged sharply. Total policies jumped 47% to 477,228 in December.
General insurance policies more than tripled to 60,203, whilst life insurance policies jumped 35% to 417,205.
The total sum insured increased by 15% YoY to $8.8b. Gross claims, likewise, increased by 8% YoY to $7.8m.
