Emirates travel cover launches amidst airspace closures
Passengers may be moved to alternative airlines at no extra charge.
Emirates has launched a new travel insurance product that includes medical cover for conflict-related incidents and airline-managed hotel accommodation during disruptions.
The airline claims the policy, called Comprehensive Travel Cover, is the first of its kind in the aviation industry.
Backed by insurance provider Travel Guard, the cover is now available for purchase on the airline's website during or after booking.
Under the new conflict-related terms, the policy offers up to $25,000 for medical expenses and a free trip extension of up to 30 days.
Emirates confirmed that this specific cover is not restricted by government travel advice.
If flights are cancelled or delayed due to conflict or airspace closures, the airline will rebook affected passengers onto other flights at no extra cost, even if it requires using alternative airlines.
Emirates will also manage and provide hotel accommodation and extended-stay support during these disruptions.
The policy also includes standard insurance benefits, such as trip cancellation cover, compensation for delayed or lost baggage, unlimited worldwide medical expenses, and emergency evacuation cover.
The airline has also maintained other booking options, including a 24-hour free period to hold a fare and free date changes for tickets booked since 2 April.
