FWD Hong Kong new business premiums skyrocket 93%

New business annual premium equivalent grew 74%, beating 43% market average.

FWD Hong Kong’s new business first-year premiums for the nine months to September (9M 2025) nearly doubled (93%) on a year-on-year (YoY) basis.

Preliminary data from the Insurance Authority (HKIA) showed that FWD’s new business annual premium equivalent grew 74% over the same period, above the market average growth of 43%. 

Growth was recorded across all major distribution channels, with each posting double-digit gains and exceeding industry averages. 

In the tied agency channel, new business APE increased 52% YoY, compared with an industry average of 27%. The bank channel saw APE growth of 67% YoY, against a market average of 32%. 

Brokerage channel APE rose 88% YoY, higher than the industry’s 69%. 

Online and direct platforms recorded the strongest growth, with new business APE up 249% YoY, compared with an industry average increase of 111%.
