Gallagher names new principal officer in India

He joined the company in late 2023.

Gallagher appointed Ajit Horra as CEO and Principal Officer of its insurance broking business in India.

Ajit brings over 35 years of industry experience, having joined Gallagher in late 2023 as managing director.

Prior to this, he spent seven years at Prudent Insurance Brokers, serving as Board Director and Technical Head, and held leadership roles at United India Insurance and Aon.

In his new role, Ajit will oversee Gallagher’s 180-member team headquartered in Mumbai, with regional offices across Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Delhi, Gurugram, Guwahati, and Kolkata.

The team specialises in providing insurance and risk management services across sectors such as motor, aviation, marine, construction, energy, renewables, manufacturing, life sciences, and M&A transactional liabilities.

Gallagher entered the Indian market in 2019 through a partnership with Edelweiss Insurance Brokers, which it fully acquired in 2021.

The business was rebranded to Gallagher in 2022.

Ajit succeeds Sneha Gokarn, who is leaving the company.

He will collaborate with Vinod Krishnan, who leads Gallagher Re in India, and report to Simon Matson, Executive Vice President of Gallagher’s Global Brokerage business for EMEA and global reinsurance.
