Generali taps Rao to run India P&C business

The change takes effect on 1 April, with the veteran bringing 35 years of sector experience.

Assicurazioni Generali S.p.A. has appointed Krishnamoorthy Rao as managing director and Chief Executive Officer of its property and casualty (P&C) business in India, effective 1 April.

Rao has more than 35 years of experience in insurance and risk management. He previously served as managing director and Chief Executive Officer of Future Generali India Insurance from 2009 to 2018, where he developed a multi-channel distribution network across retail and corporate segments. 

He later led MPI Generali as chief executive from 2018 to 2022, focusing on growth and profitability.

Rao is a Fellow of the Insurance Institute of India and holds a Bachelor of Technology in Production Engineering from the University of Calicut. 

He started his career at the Indian Space Research Organisation before moving into roles in underwriting, risk management and leadership at Bajaj Allianz and Tata AIG Risk Management Services.
