Manulife rebrands its fund management arm in China

The change of name is tailored to its global operations.

Manulife Fund Management launched as Manulife Investment Management in China, patterned after the global entities and goal of providing services to Chinese investors.

After receiving the China Securities Regulatory Commission's (CSRC) approval in November 2022, Manulife Investment Management underwent a rebranding process.

As the first foreign wealth and asset manager to convert its joint venture into a wholly-owned fund management company in China, the rebranding became necessary.

The new brand name officially took effect after the completion of registration with the relevant Chinese authorities.

One of the initial six asset management firms authorized by the CSRC to offer fund-of-funds products in China was Manulife Fund Management.

Back in 2017, Manulife Investment Management established its wholly foreign-owned enterprise in Shanghai to introduce its worldwide public and private asset solutions and co-investment prospects to the Chinese market.
