Markel expands APAC W&I with two underwriter hires

One appointment covers Singapore, Hong Kong, and other regional deal markets, whilst the other is based in Mumbai.

Markel, the insurance arm of Markel Group Inc., has expanded its Warranty and Indemnity (W&I) operations in the Asia-Pacific region by appointing two dedicated underwriters in Hong Kong and India.

In Hong Kong, Siddick Khan has been appointed Senior Underwriter, W&I. Khan, who previously held roles at Aon Transaction Solutions and PwC, will focus on transactional risks in Singapore, Hong Kong, and other key Asia Pacific markets.

He reports to Kevin Leung, Chief Underwriting Officer for Asia-Pacific.

In India, Shubhi Nigam joins as Markel’s first dedicated W&I underwriter based in Mumbai.

Previously a corporate lawyer at firms including Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co. and AZB & Partners, Nigam will focus exclusively on the Indian market.

Her appointment transitions Markel from selective engagement in India to a permanent, local presence.
