Marsh buys ENEOS insurance units in Japan
The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026.
Marsh has agreed to acquire Japanese insurance broker ENEOS Insurance Service and the insurance business of ENEOS Material Trading, as it looks to expand its presence in Japan’s commercial and personal insurance markets.
The deal, announced by Marsh and ENEOS Holdings, Inc., is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Founded in 1957 and based in Tokyo, ENEOS Insurance Service provides commercial insurance and risk advisory services to group companies and clients across Japan.
Its offerings include liability cover, service station insurance, disaster compensation, car lease insurance and workers’ compensation, as well as employee benefit programmes.
ENEOS Material Trading’s insurance division focuses on personal insurance, serving companies in the chemicals sector and their employees.
Marsh said the acquisition would allow it to combine local client relationships with its global risk management capabilities, including analytics and digital platforms.
The combined business is expected to expand product-related and extended warranty offerings while continuing to provide employee benefits and advisory services
Chikara Nakanishi, President and Representative Director of Marsh Japan, said the deal would build on the strong client relationships of the ENEOS businesses while enhancing services through Marsh’s global expertise.
Takashi Anada, General Manager at ENEOS Holdings and President of ENEOS Insurance Service, said the transaction forms part of a broader effort by the group to restructure its portfolio and strengthen its management structure.
