MS Amlin opens Sydney office to expand APAC reinsurance business

Matt Botfield was appointed as head of Australia and New Zealand.

MS Amlin is opening a new branch office in Sydney, pending Lloyd’s approval, as part of its Asia Pacific Reinsurance business, MS Amlin Pacific Pte. Ltd. 

The company has appointed Matt Botfield as head of Australia and New Zealand.  
MS Amlin’s Asia Pacific reinsurance operations, led by regional CEO Will Ho, provide casualty, property, and specialty reinsurance solutions.

The company is expanding its presence in Australia and New Zealand, where a growing share of its regional business originates.  

Botfield will manage the existing client portfolio and broker relationships in Australia and New Zealand whilst overseeing new business development.

He will also leverage MS Amlin’s underwriting capabilities to develop solutions for clients in the region. 

The Australian operations will complement the current portfolio written from London.  

Botfield previously served as Chief Operating Officer for Greater China at Aon Reinsurance China and CEO of Alternate Insurance Authority Hong Kong. 

He spent 14 years at Aon Benfield in senior roles, including Head of Property Australia and New Zealand.
