MS&AD taps MSIG Asia CEO for global strategy role
Philippi will become executive officer and chief strategy officer for int’l operations from 1 April.
MSIG Asia CEO Clemens Philippi will take on a new group role at MS&AD Insurance Group Holdings as part of a senior leadership reshuffle.
The company said Philippi will be appointed executive officer and chief strategy officer for the group’s international business from 1 April.
In the new role, he will jointly lead international strategy with Keisuke Ema, general manager of the international business department at Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance. Both will report to group chief global officer Hironori Morimoto.
Philippi will retain his responsibilities as CEO of MSIG Asia until further notice.
The appointment comes alongside changes to MSIG Asia’s board leadership. Current chairman Tetsuya Adachi will step down, with Norihiro Tanaka set to succeed him as chairman from the same date.
Tanaka currently serves as executive officer and head of planning at MSIG Asia and will also be appointed executive officer of MS&AD.
Tanaka has around 30 years of experience within the group. His previous roles include general manager at MS Amlin Underwriting and head of liability and cyber at Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance before joining MSIG Asia.
