Philippines orders insurers to fast-track claims in calamity zones

The IC also told companies to ensure damage assessments are properly recorded.

The Philippines' Insurance Commission (IC) has ordered insurers to fast-track claim processing in areas under a state of calamity.

The directive follows instructions from Finance Secretary Ralph Recto after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. issued the calamity declaration.

Under a new circular, insurers, MBAs, pre-need firms, and HMOs must relax requirements, extend deadlines, and help policyholders complete documents.

The IC also told companies to ensure damage assessments are properly recorded and to work with local governments and national agencies involved in relief operations. The regulator will monitor compliance, require reports when needed, and act on complaints re

lated to disaster-linked claims.
