SBI General urges active planning as medical bills climb

SBI General Insurance offers cashless hospitalisation, amongst others.

SBI General Insurance launches health campaign as India’s National Statistical Office data shows that hospitalisation now costs Indian families more than $355 (₹34,000) out of pocket.

The company’s new film, an extension of its Chuniye Bharosa, Apno Sa campaign, portrays the daily pressures faced by working families and uses that context to make the case for proactive health coverage.

Rathin Lahiri, Head of Marketing and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) at SBI General, said the campaign was designed to shift the conversation from passive policy ownership to active financial planning.

"For salaried individuals with family responsibilities, setting aside at least 2% of annual income towards insurance can be a prudent step to address changing health needs and rising medical costs,” Lahiri said.

He added that the campaign aimed to encourage families to think more deliberately about the adequacy of their coverage.

The product offers cashless hospitalisation, preventive healthcare benefits, coverage for modern treatments, and customisable coverage options.
