SCOR unveils global head of casualty, EIL

He replaces Daniel Carerras, who became Chief Underwriting Officer.

SCOR Business Solutions tapped Holger Schaefer as its new Global head of Casualty & EIL, effective 1 March.

Based in Cologne, he will report to CEO Claire McDonald. Schaefer will oversee casualty teams across the US, Europe, and APAC.

Schaefer replaces Daniel Carerras, who became Chief Underwriting Officer of Casualty, for both Insurance and Reinsurance in 2024.

Schaefer joins SCOR after a 35-year career at Allianz Group, where he held senior underwriting and sales positions.

He led AGCS Germany’s casualty underwriting and established its first sales team, later expanding the model globally as Global Head of Sales & Distribution.

He also served as CEO of AGCS Pacific in Sydney and, most recently, as Regional CEO APAC for Allianz Trade in Hong Kong.
