SEADRIF, AHA Centre partner on ASEAN disaster financing
The pact links emergency response systems with financial protection mechanisms.
The Southeast Asia Disaster Risk Insurance Facility (SEADRIF) Insurance Company and the ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on disaster management (AHA Centre) have partnered to strengthen disaster impact reporting and develop risk financing solutions in Southeast Asia.
The agreement focuses on improving preparedness for disasters by linking disaster response systems with financial protection mechanisms.
It also aims to support the development of scalable insurance solutions for ASEAN member states.
Under the agreement, both organisations will explore a regional insurance solution that could provide pre-arranged financing for rapid humanitarian response and recovery following natural disasters.
Areas of cooperation include technical discussions on disaster risk financing and its link to operational response under the ASEAN Agreement on Disaster Management and Emergency Response (AADMER), the use of historical disaster data to support insurance product design, and joint workshops and simulation exercises.
