S’porean vehicle owners can access accident reports via new service

Vehicle owners can purchase a report for S$90 each.

Singapore’s General Insurance Association (GIA) launched its new online Vehicle Accident Report History (VARH) service through its motor accident reporting online platform called the GIA Easy Accident Reporting System (GEARS).

The VARH service, accessible at https://m.gears.com.sg/accident-history-report, allows current vehicle owners to purchase a report showing the dates of accident reports made by owners or drivers of their vehicles over the past six years.

Each report costs S$90 plus prevailing GST. To access this service, vehicle owners must use Singpass MyInfo. Currently, the VARH service is exclusively offered to individual vehicle owners.

This new service complements the GEARS platform launched in 2020, which offers consumers a seamless and convenient way to purchase and receive third-party accident reports.

Whilst GEARS facilitates the remote and secure purchase of accident reports in the event of an accident, the VARH service allows prospective buyers of second-hand vehicles to assess the accident history of the vehicle before making a purchase decision.
