
Sri Lanka appoints experts from finance, law, and insurance to Commission
The appointments were made by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
The Insurance Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (IRCSL) has appointed R.C. Kotte Hewa, G.A.S. Jayaratna, and D.W.S. Waidyarathne as Commission Members.
The appointments were made by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, in his capacity as Minister of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development, under Section 4(1)(d) of the Regulation of Insurance Industry Act, No. 43 of 2000.

Kotte Hewa brings over 20 years of auditing experience, including senior roles at R.C. Associates and Ernst & Young.
He has extensive expertise in auditing for the banking and finance sectors. He holds a BSc in Accountancy and Financial Management (Hons) and an MSc in Management Accountancy from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka and an Associate Member of both the Chartered Management Accountants, UK, and the Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka.
Jayaratna, a Senior Legal Counsel with 34 years of litigation experience, has provided consultancy services to various local and international organisations.
He has also lectured at the University of Ruhuna, Sri Lanka Law College, and Deakin University in Melbourne. He holds a Master of International Relations from the University of Colombo, a Master of Laws from Deakin University, and a BA in Philosophy from the University of Peradeniya.
He has participated in constitutional reform discussions, election monitoring programs, and legal education reform initiatives.
Waidyarathne currently serves as the Coordinating Secretary to the Governor of Southern Province and as a council member of the University of Ruhuna.
He has an MBA from Cardiff University, UK, and held senior managerial positions in the insurance sector from 2005 to 2021.
He previously worked in the education sector for 20 years and was a visiting English instructor at the University of Ruhuna.
