Taiwan holds $189b in earthquake insurance liabilities

There were 3.6 million policies in force as of end-December last year.

As of end-31 December, the number of insurance policies in Taipei, Taiwan was at 401,604 with a policy percentage of 11.02%, data from the Taiwan Residential Earthquake Insurance Fund showed.

Taiwan’s cumulative liability amount for the residential earthquake insurance system was $189.1b (NT$6.1t).

There were 3.6 million policies in force, representing a take-up rate of 38.89% (based on a total of 9.4 million households in Taiwan).
