Taiwan reports growth in foreign-currency insurance end-August
Traditional insurance products accounted for 84% of the total.
Taiwan life insurance industry reported premium revenues of $5.75b (NT$191.81b) from new foreign-currency denominated policies as of end-August 2024, a 4% increase compared to $5.55b (NT$185.00b) in the same period in 2023, according to the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC).
Traditional insurance products accounted for $4.86b (NT$161.99b), or 84% of the total, representing a 17% rise from $4.16b (NT$138.78b) year-on-year.
In contrast, investment-linked insurance products contributed $0.89b (NT$29.82b), or 16% of the total, marking a 35% decline from $1.39b (NT$46.22b) in the same period last year.
