Zurich enters home insurance market through Honey deal

The policies will cover homes and vehicles against severe weather accidents and crime.

Zurich Financial Services Australia will enter the personal home insurance market from October 2026 under an expanded partnership with Honey Insurance.

Under the agreement, Zurich will underwrite and manage claims for Honey's home, landlord and motor insurance policies. 

Honey will continue to distribute the products under its own brand and through partners, including Bank of Queensland (BOQ).

Alex Morgan, head of General Insurance at Zurich, said the partnership responds to growing demand from Australians for competitive insurance products as risks continue to increase.

He said the deal combines Zurich's underwriting and claims capabilities with Honey's digital distribution model, whilst supporting Zurich's expansion across Australia's personal insurance market, including home, motor, pet, travel, landlord and life insurance.

Honey Insurance CEO David Krawitz said Zurich's underwriting and claims expertise complements Honey's digital platform and distribution network. 

He said expanding the partnership to home, landlord and motor insurance follows the companies' launch of pet insurance in March 2026.

The expanded agreement builds on Zurich and Honey's existing partnership in pet insurance announced earlier this year.
