Prudential’s free COVID-19 vaccine insurance now covers children
It was originally available for Singaporeans ages 18 and up.
Prudential is now expanding its complimentary insurance cover for COVID-19 side effects to children ages 5 to 17.
Under the complimentary plan, PRUSafe COVIDCover, children under 5 to 17 will be able to receive a cash allowance of S$100 per day of hospitalisation for up to 14 days within the 7 days of receiving each COVID-19 vaccination dosage. This includes the booster dose for individuals aged 12 and above.
Parents can sign up for PRUSafe COVIDCover for their children aged 5 to 17 years old via Prudential's digital health and wellness app, Pulse by Prudential, from 17 March 2022 to 30 November 2022. The coverage is effective from 17 March 2022 or date of registration, whichever is later, and ends on 31 December 2022.
The plan was originally made available to Singaporeans, including non-Prudential customers, ages 18 and up.
Goh Theng Kiat, Chief Customer Officer of Prudential Singapore said this is the group's way of supporting its customers and community.
“By extending PRUSafe COVIDCover to children and youth as well, parents can have greater peace of mind as we do our part to stay safe in this pandemic while returning to normalcy," Goh said.
According to statistics by the Ministry of Health, as of 14 March 2022, 25% of children ages 5 to 11 remain unvaccinated.
Prudential Singapore is the number three insurance firm in Singapore by assets according to Singapore Business Review’s Top 50 Insurance Firm Rankings 2021.
