AXA XL names chief underwriting officer for APAC, Europe

Marine Ress will be responsible for underwriting strategy for general liability, motor, and environmental insurance.

AXA XL has named Marine Ress as its chief underwriting officer (CUO) for the Asia Pacific and Europe, effective 1 October.

Ress will be based in Paris and will oversee AXA’s casualty portfolio. She will also take charge of the underwriting strategy for general liability, motor and environmental insurance in Europe and APAC.

Ress joined Aon in 2001 where she held a number of broking and leadership roles, specialising in liability and financial lines insurance. She then joined Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty SE in 2011 where she was first responsible for the French liability team before becoming regional head for liability underwriting for the Mediterranean region and Africa.

“I am delighted to have Marine join the APAC and Europe underwriting function. Her extensive experience in liability insurance, both as a broker and an underwriting leader, makes her an ideal candidate to head our casualty business in Europe and the Asia Pacific,” said Etienne Champion, the current AXA XL CUO for APAC and Europe.
