Insurance-backed digital app penetration is projected to rise by 70% in the next two years.

Eight in 10 consumers are looking into insurance partners for specialist, diagnostician, or primary care provider recommendations for growing healthcare needs.

The healthcare landscape in the Asia Pacific region is undergoing transformations driven by consumer demands, technological advancements, and the integration of new care delivery models.

“Consumers are also increasingly using insurance-backed digital apps, with roughly 50% penetration for services like online appointment booking, self-diagnosis, and digital claim management and is expected to rise to 70% in the next two years,” said a Bain & Co. report.
Consumers in the region are becoming more proactive in managing their health and are willing to invest in wellness. 

They expect personalised care experiences and are increasingly comfortable with digital health solutions.

The adoption of wearable devices for health monitoring is on the rise, democratising access to health tracking.

Traditional notions of healthcare delivery are changing, with consumers showing a preference for more accessible and convenient options beyond hospitals. 

“As rising claim costs deeply impact payers, insurance providers should look for ways to integrate patient care management more effectively toward better care delivery. When payers play a greater role in patient steerage and guidance, they can help limit the need and associated costs of more severe diagnoses and treatments.” the report noted.

Establishing partnerships across the healthcare ecosystem to develop new capabilities and deliver integrated care solutions across the entire care continuum.
