MS Amlin boosts Phoenix Re Capacity to $9m for APAC reinsurance

This marks a 12.5% from 2024.

MS Amlin has renewed its Phoenix Re sidecar for the fifth consecutive year, increasing its collateralised capacity to over $9m, a 12.5% increase from 2024.

The Singapore-based vehicle provides quota share support for MS Amlin’s reinsurance portfolio in Asia-Pacific and has grown significantly since its launch in 2021, driven by strong performance and rising investor interest in Asian catastrophe risks.

William Ho, CEO of MS Amlin Asia Pacific, highlighted that investor appetite for Asian catastrophe risks continues to grow, with Phoenix Re more than doubling its available capacity since inception.

He noted that Phoenix Re has absorbed regional loss events, including floods, earthquakes, and super typhoons, whilst delivering consistent returns.

In 2023, it achieved returns exceeding 11.5%, reflecting MS Amlin’s disciplined underwriting approach.
