Canopius taps ex-QBE exec for ANZ leadership role

He will report to SK Lee, CEO for APAC and MENA.

Canopius Group has named Andrew Ziolkowski as head of Australia and New Zealand, effective 25 October. 

He will report to SK Lee, CEO for APAC and MENA.

Ziolkowski brings more than 28 years of experience in insurance and financial services. 

He most recently served as Chief Underwriting and Transformation Officer at QBE Insurance, and previously held senior roles at NSW Self Insurance Corporation, IAG/Wesfarmers Insurance, and Zurich Financial Services.

In his new position, Ziolkowski will oversee Canopius’ operations across the ANZ region, with responsibility for strategic development, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder engagement.

He succeeds Craig Elliot, who has served as interim head of the Australia business since December 2024. 

Elliot will continue with the company as head of Casualty for ANZ and take on a new role as head of Distribution for the region.
