AXA China Region partners with Hainan zone on medical insurance
The insurer also partnered with China Biotech Services Holdings.
AXA China Region Insurance Company (Bermuda) Limited has partnered with the Hainan Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone Administration to develop new medical insurance models and expand cross-border healthcare options.
The Pilot Zone, approved by China’s State Council in 2013, is the country’s only medical special zone, benefiting from preferential policies for licensed medical services, research, operations, and international exchanges.
It has introduced advanced treatment protocols, innovative pharmaceuticals, and medical devices into China for trial use, including therapies for rare diseases and cancer.
AXA has also partnered with China Biotech Services Holdings to bring Boron Neutron Capture Therapy, a cancer treatment technology, to the Pilot Zone.
Janet Lee, Chief Life and Health Insurance Officer at AXA Hong Kong and Macau, said the collaboration would allow AXA to integrate Lecheng’s advanced medical resources into its insurance offerings.
